| Chip Judd began his career at the Kansas
City Art Institute where he studied oil painting and sculpture and
worked towards his bachelors degree in Fine Arts. Following graduation,
he spent a year working at an advertising art studio before venturing
into his own business enterprise.
Chip founded a graphic design company in Cleveland, Chip Creative
Artist, primarily serving the motorsport industry. Chip specialized
in airbrushing, with murals, racecar graphics, and gold-leaf lettering
making up the bulk of his work. While engaged in these projects,
Chip soon gained national recognition as a master pin -striper
of antique and classic show cars. Chip also was exposed to a wide
variety of techniques, ranging from architectural renderings to
billboard design. This led to a business relationship with the
International Hot Rod Association that lasted over ten years and
led Chip to become involved with many aspects of marketing and
promotion and he was frequently consulted on advertising solutions.
In 1996, Chip was invited to join one of the world's most prestigious
boat racing teams, the K.R. Racing Team. Chip became responsible
for creating and maintaining the graphics on the team's two 46'
twin-engine catamarans and the four Kenworth trucks used as support
vehicles. Chip also functioned as the team's lead photographer
and media liaison. This was very demanding work, requiring long
hours and dedication as the team traveled through Europe, changing
locations every two weeks.
Chip's skill and creativity behind a camera lens began to attract
attention, and Chip soon became friends with a local bodybuilding
promoter, Tom Rosso. Chip began to photograph Mr. Rosso's shows,
and his unique style caught the eye of Mike Calvin, editor of
The Great Lakes Fitness Guide. For a time, Chip coordinated working
with the racing team with his new photography career, spending
the off season covering bodybuilding shows in Ohio and Michigan.
It soon became apparent to Chip that photography was his true
calling, and he left the racing team to focus on his skill full
time. From his newly constructed studio in Sheffield, Ohio, Chip
has taken his creative art to new levels. He applies his talent
covering photoshoots at bodybuilding shows and other events all
over the country. Chip is renowned for doing more than simply
documenting an event, he makes the scenes come to life through
his vibrant photographs and descriptions by blending his creative
imagination and a passion for the artistic. Chip also works with
a wide clientele of fitness models, both providing the photographs
for their portfolios, and helping to promote their careers as
well. Chip also makes his services available for weddings, graduations,
business promotional materials, sporting events, etc. Chip can
accommodate almost any need, whether by traveling to an exotic
location or utilizing his 3 acre woodland estate overlooking a
scenic river valley and nature reserve.
Today, Chip Judd Photography continues to move forward. With
his studio less than three years old, Chip has already begun expansion;
building new sets by hand and continually experimenting with new
props and techniques. Chip has also moved his work into the digital
realm through his web site, ChipJuddPhoto.com and will continue
to explore his art well into the future.
